Blue Amazing

Where colour meets urban rhythm

Blue Amazing is inspired by the patterns, energy and visual language of graffiti. Fragments of urban forms and structures are transformed through layers of oil paint, creating a composition in which intense blues, movement and texture interact across the canvas.

Working with strong, saturated jewel-like colours was an important part of the process. The depth of the oil paint allows different shades of blue to emerge as the light changes, giving the surface a shifting sense of luminosity and movement. Even in a more subdued interior, the colours retain their intensity and presence.

Like its companion work Green Amazing, the painting brings together the spontaneity of graffiti-inspired forms with the slower, layered process of oil painting – allowing two different visual languages to meet within the same work.
