A tribute to water – and to the sea

Water has always fascinated me. Walking along a beach and looking out across the sea gives me a profound sense of freedom – a feeling of being part of something larger, without borders.

The sea brings me inner harmony. My thoughts become clearer and new ideas emerge. Sailing adds another dimension: feeling the forces of the sea can be both exhilarating and dramatic. It brings you completely into the present moment.

TRUE BLUE grew from this lifelong relationship with water. Since childhood, I have also carried with me a strong awareness that nature and water must be treated with care. I have always disliked seeing water unnecessarily wasted – a running tap still bothers me. I grew up with the understanding that we have a responsibility to protect the natural world around us.

The painting is therefore both personal and a tribute to water: to its beauty, its power and its fundamental importance to life. Our oceans need protection, and clean water is a resource we can never take for granted.

Water continues to return in my work because it never ceases to fascinate me – visually, emotionally and as one of the essential conditions for life.
