Where sea and morning light meet
A Morning in Nice II is the third work in my series inspired by Nice – a place whose light, colours and proximity to the Mediterranean continue to fascinate me.
Early in the morning, the Promenade des Anglais has a particular atmosphere. The sea and the light seem to meet, the surface of the water begins to shimmer, and colours become clearer and more intense as the day awakens. It is a moment filled with both energy and stillness.
In this painting, I wanted to capture an impression rather than a specific view: the luminosity of the Mediterranean, the movement of the sea and that almost dreamlike clarity that can appear in the morning light. These are impressions that stay in my visual memory long after leaving a place and later find their way into my paintings.
Like the other works in the A Morning in Nice series, the painting reflects a quiet moment of observation – shaped by colour, light and the atmosphere of the French Riviera.
