Lars Wallin Atelier 35 Years of Fashion Stories

Lars Wallin Atelier 35 Years of Fashion Stories

I have always been inspired by clothing of high quality when it comes to craftsmanship, materials, and style. Even in my own artistic practice, I draw impulses from this, and I often feel that details from the fashion world can play an important role in my expression. That’s why it was particularly exciting for me to experience Lars Wallin – Fashion Stories at Artipelag. I have followed Wallin’s work for many years, and I have always admired his ability to combine technically skilled craftsmanship with an artistic vision. To take part in this exhibition was both inspiring and moving in a way I hadn’t quite anticipated.

As soon as you step into the exhibition, you are greeted by a magical feeling. There is no doubt that this is about more than just clothing. Wallin’s work has always held a special place for me – every garment tells a story, conveys a thought, or evokes a feeling. At Artipelag, it felt as though these stories came to life. The halls were filled with his most iconic creations, and I couldn’t help but admire his attention to detail. There’s something about his technique – every seam, every fabric, every embroidery – it all feels carefully considered and charged with energy.

It was also wonderful to see so much variation in his work. I’ve seen many of his pieces before, but to have them all gathered in one exhibition gave them a new dimension. One of the things I particularly admire about Wallin is his ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. His garments feel timeless in a way, yet still very innovative. The exhibition showcased both glittering, dramatic evening gowns and more minimalist, but still complex, creations. I’ve always felt that his clothes have a sense of being both grounded and dreamlike at the same time, and that was evident in every piece here.

The exhibition at Artipelag was also so well executed; the rooms were large and bright, allowing each garment to speak for itself. I felt like a part of a larger artwork, where every corner and every view reminded me how fashion and art can enrich each other. It was truly an experience of getting close to the creative process and seeing the full spectrum of Lars Wallin’s expressions.

This visit to Artipelag gave me new impulses and deepened my understanding of what fashion can be. Wallin’s creations are much more than just clothes – they are a reminder of how craftsmanship, art, and history can interact. When I left, I felt filled with new thoughts and ideas for my own artistic practice. There’s something special about experiencing fashion in this way, as an art form that offers both beauty and a deeper narrative.

Thank You! ❤️
