Cuius Veritas - Who owns the truth?

Cuius Veritas — meaning Who Owns the Truth? — is an oil painting I created during 2020 and completed in the autumn of that year.

The work brings together a number of symbols, some familiar and others more mysterious. They invite different interpretations and raise questions about meaning, belief and the way we perceive truth.

Among the symbols is the Triquetra, an ancient three-part symbol that has appeared in different cultures and traditions. In Christianity, it has often been used to represent the Trinity — the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Another symbol appearing in the painting is the All-Seeing Eye — an eye surrounded by rays of light and often enclosed within a triangle. It has appeared in religious and symbolic traditions as an image associated with watchfulness, higher knowledge and divine presence.

The symbol also appears in Freemasonry, where the eye can serve as a reminder of the presence of the Great Architect of the Universe.

Circular forms in silver run like a common thread through many of my works. I have long been fascinated by the mystery of the moon — a changing celestial body that has captivated humanity throughout history.

The moon has also carried symbolic meanings connected with emotional life, intuition and the rhythms of change. Its mystery, movement and reflected light continue to fascinate me.

Colour is another important part of Cuius Veritas. I worked with jewel tones such as emerald, amethyst and sapphire, together with turquoise and silver. I have always been drawn to the depth and luminosity of these colours and the way they shift depending on light and their surroundings.

Cuius Veritas was exhibited at Volvo Studio Stockholm as part of my Colours and Spaces exhibition in 2020.
