When the Earth Cries Out – Painting What Words Could Not Express
Some paintings begin with an idea.
Others begin with a feeling.
When the Earth Cries Out belongs to the second kind.
I didn't start with a sketch or a clear vision of what I wanted to create. Instead, I simply began painting, allowing intuition to guide each brushstroke. As the colours emerged, I realized they were carrying emotions that had been difficult to put into words.
Like many people, I have found myself deeply affected by the images of war, human suffering and the growing uncertainty surrounding our planet. These thoughts stayed with me, quietly finding their way into the painting without conscious intention.
Only after stepping back did I begin to understand what had appeared on the canvas.
The intense red became a reflection of a world filled with conflict and vulnerability.
The vibrant greens reminded me that, despite everything, nature continues to grow. Life persists. Beauty still exists, and with it, hope.
For me, this painting is not only about despair.
It is also about resilience.
It is about our responsibility to care for one another and for the world we share.
Perhaps that is why I chose the title When the Earth Cries Out.
Not as a statement of hopelessness, but as an invitation to listen.
Because even in the most uncertain times, there is always something worth protecting.
